Law Graduate Assessment Test at HEC Higher Education Commission

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is seeking candidates for various positions as per the job advertisement published in the daily Dawn Newspaper on May 28, 2023. The locations for these positions include Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Lahore, Sukkur, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Karachi, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Gilgit, and Quetta in Pakistan. The assessment test is specifically for law graduates.

Eligibility Criteria

Persons having passed Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent from a university recognized by HEC/PBC are eligible to apply.

The test will consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)

Date of Test

The Law-GAT Test tentatively will be held on June 25, 2023. Any change in test date, due to unavoidable circumstances, shall be communicated to Candidates through www.hec.gov.pk and http://etc.hec.gov.pk Applicants who register through HEC online registration process will download their Roll Number Slip through http://etc.hec.gov.pk a week before the test date. Email/SMS will be sent to registered applicants for test date, time and venue. Candidates are required to provide valid email/mobile number while filling online application form. A print of Roll Number Slip, original CNIC and deposited fee challan will be required to enter in Test centre.

Detail of Test Centres

The test will take place at various test centers, including: Bahawalpur, Islamabad, D.I. Khan, Karachi, Quetta, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Gilgit, Hyderabad, Multan, Peshawar and Sukkur.

Applicants are free to choose any test center from the options provided in the application registration form. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the test will only be conducted at a particular center if a minimum of 250 applicants select that center. Once a test center is chosen during registration, it cannot be changed.

How to Register

1. For online registration, please visit the website: http://etc.hec.gov.pk. If you encounter any difficulties during the registration process, you can seek assistance by visiting onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk or by going to the HEC Secretariat or HEC Regional Centres.
2. The application submission consists of two steps. First, you need to complete your profile by accessing the “My Profile” section. Then, submit your application by clicking on the “Law Graduate Assessment Test” link in the left-hand side menu panel of the online portal.
3. Please note that only applications that have been submitted will be considered for the Law-GAT Test. Applications in the “SAVE” or “INCOMPLETE” mode will not be entertained.
4. To complete the application process, a test fee of Rs. 3000/- needs to be deposited into Account No. 01127900567403 at Habib Bank Limited. The account title is “Higher Education Commission,” and the branch code is 0112. You can download the bank fee challan from the http://etc.hec.gov.pk website while registering for the test. Please note that the fee challan is only available on the ETC online registration portal.
5. When filling out the application form on the ETC online registration portal, it is mandatory for all candidates to upload a paid and scanned copy of the fee challan, which must be duly stamped by an HBL branch.
6. Please be aware that the test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. On the day of the test, it is essential to bring the original applicant copy of the paid fee challan along with your original CNIC or original passport. Failure to provide these documents will result in the candidate not being allowed to sit for the exam.

The deadline for online registration is June 12, 2023, at 4 pm.
